Friedrich,

I would like to request a small enhancement to your program. I have
the desire to be able to paste information into the windows clipboard
as a part of the script compiling (generating of the installation
program). I would see this similar to the message box except that it
would go to the windows clipboard instead. In my case it overwriting
whatever is already there is fine but of course having the option to
append would be nice<g>.

The reason for this is that my program version number is fairly long
and is automatically built up from several components. I currently
have it displayed during compilation but would like the ability to be
able to directly paste it into a text without having to write it down.

Thanks for your consideration of this.

Just to confirm that I understand you correctly: you need a compiler
directive (similar to the "SendOutputDebugString" Debug function) that sends
specific information to the Windows Clipboard (as part of the compilation
process).

Thanks,
Friedrich

That is correct. After I have compiled an installation set, I would
like to be able paste that value into an email or other text.

Okay, thank you. It's on the SB7 "whish list" now.

Thank you for your suggestion!

Hi Barton,

If you use SetupCast to publish your SetupBuilder installers to your
website, it will automatically gather that information (along with lots of
other data such as the download size, release date, release notes, etc).

Then it generates direct Hyperlinks to the content that are available for
pasting into E-mail and other documents. The publish layout is displayed
in a tree form so you can see exactly where the files go.

You click on any file or node of the tree and the link is displayed, along
with an option to copy it to the clipboard (as shown in the attached screen
shot).

The link shown in the screen shot is for the "Links" page generated by
SetupCast (you have total control over the look and feel of the generated
page).

The links page shows ALL the information about the product release.

You could simply paste this link into an E-mail and when your customers
click it they have everything they need to know.

If you want to check it out, the URL in the screen shot is here:

http://www.setupcast.com/sc/links/sclinks.html

SetupCast has a VERY high level of automation for SetupBuider as outlined
here:

http://www.setupcast.com/html/setupbuilder.html

This includes an enhanced web update client that is a drop in replacement
for the wupdate.exe in SetupBuilder (approved by Friedrich and with the
script file included in case you need to modify it).

Of course one great thing about SetupCast is that it publishes all your
installer types for a project (full install, web install and web update) at
the touch of a button, plus updates the information on your website and
even creates/updates an RSS feed to notify your customers.

SetupCast makes publishing a new release of your software VERY easy!

;-)
