2 questions about aborting installations

1) Is it acceptable to use Exit Installation early in a script to abort an
installation if I detect that a target exe is already installed and in use?

2) How do I signal to SB that an installation has failed and trigger the abort
dialog such as when I detect that an MSDE installation has failed? Couldn't
find anything about this in the docs.
