View Full Version : Adding with wildcards

Hi Friedrich,

When I build installs I create the exact folderstructure that the install
should have. I then add the foldertree complete to the install and I'm
done. Very quick. Except that I use wildcards for just about every file,
except if they are clarion templates that need to be registered or files
that need shortcuts.

What I would like to be able to is:

1. When adding the tree, specify that I only want to add one *.* to each
folder. I can then go and add the few files I need to in addition to the
wildcard.

2. When adding single files, be able to perhaps hold down the shift key and
do an "Add" on ONE file from the folder and it will be added to the filelist
as *.*

Currently (in SB6) I have to:

For 1: Add the tree, then go and change one file to *.* and delete the
rest.

For 2: add a file and change the source from filename to *.*

I tend to take existing installs and modify them rather than create new one.
I'm not good at creating very generic installs that I can use for multiple
products (I'm talking clarion 3rd party stuff here) so I tend to have one
install for each product.

Hope this makes sense:)

Best regards,

Arnor,

When you get to the screen where you add files, just navigate to the folder
on the top half of the screen, then DO NOT select any file.

Then right-click in the bottom half of the screen (where added files
appear) and choose "Add".

Next click the second tab and your wildcard will already be there for you.

Does that help?

Charles

Cool! And it actually doesn't matter if you have selected file(s) in the
upper right list as if you right click on the lower right and select Add, it
will add the wildcard for whatever folder is selected in the upper left.
Thanks:)

However this is not obvious and I could not find this in the help. Maybe an
option "Add *.*" would be appropriate.

Best regards,
