Hi Friedrich,

I bought a Comodo cert two yrs ago (it just expired 2 days ago), and now
need to renew. I think that I did not go through Lindersoft to buy it since
I paid $340 for two years.

I would like to do the 3 years for $200 through Lindersoft to renew. Is
there anyway to do this, or do I need to just get a new one from scratch?

Thanks

As far as I know code signing certificates are always from scratch,
never renewed such as SSL certs. I may be wrong but that's the process
I'm going through right now... playing the waiting game!<g>

Regardless, go through Lindersoft to get it... I did.

Skip,

The process possibly changed since this was written, but it still is a
vital link on the ordering page at:
http://www.lindersoft.com/order_codesigning.htm

The author - Hal Heindel - really hits major points on the ordering process
- it's probably best to use the browser - IE on an XP machine from start to
finish - VERY important - to use the SAME computer through the whole
process, and particularly pay attention - to Hal's most critical points -
password - VERY vital

Screen shots - also - very vital - IF you don't see something very similar,
you won't be getting the your .spc certificate and your .pvk key file in a
file format that is easily saved.

IF you have ANY problems during this process - you need to submit a Support
ticker to Comodo - AND remember this - while LinderSoft provides the start
of this wonderful discount - Comodo is the company you must deal with...

When it comes to certificates there is no renewal. You start the process
from scratch every time.

Couldn't have said it better myself :) Exactly what the experts said!

If my memory serves correctly, I renewed my certificate through Comodo with
no problem.. I think I had to find the right link.. I did not have to submit
all my information again... or maybe I just didn't have to do a D & B
again... but it was much easier the 2nd time.

But yes.. be sure to use IE... And when I get a new computer I hope to clone
my hard drive so hopefully everything will still be there. But I got the 3
year so I don't have to worry until 2011.

There is no "renew" for certificates. Of course, they have your information
in their records and that can make life easier (but no guarantee). But
WebTrust companies do again a complete background check and identity
verification.
