View Full Version : Editing an INI file - POST file installation

Hi All,

Version 5.6.1627

As hard as I have tried I can't seem to wrap my head
around this or get it done.

*After* the files have been written to the install folder I
need to check an INI file and add some items if they
do not exist. If they already exist I need to leave them
alone.

According to the DOCS, using the function "Get INI
Value" should read the INI file and populate the Variable
with the value found for the Item and section if it exists
in the file.

My setup looks something like this:
Variable: %MY_COUNTRY%
Default:
Path Name: %_SB5_INSTALLDIR%\filename.ini
INI Section: Setup
INI Item: Country

When I run the install %MY_COUNTRY% returns empty
even though the section and item are in the INI file.

Does anyone have a clue what I'm doing wrong? Can you
point me in the right direction to get my problem solved?

Thanks a bunch

Lee,

Is your %_SB5_INSTALLDIR% variable defined and correct? The default
variable for the installation folder is %_SB_INSTALLDIR%

If you are interested, please send your filename.ini and your script to
support (at) lindersoft (dot) com and we'll check it for you.

Hi Friedrich,

I knew all along it was going to be MY stupidity. It was the variable
name.

Thanks for the offer and most of all the answer.

My stepfather used to tell me "Your intelligence is only exceeded by your
stupidity"... Which meant that I did some (in his eyes) pretty stupid
things, because I have an above average intelligence.
