View Full Version : License registrations

Friedrich (and Bruce),

Been reading up on adding the license stuff to an install, cool stuff. I
also use SecWin in this app that I'm making an install for. One of the
features is the ability to register a product, commonly converts it from a
demo to a full version (a bit more than that, but that's a nice general
summation).

I've an application that generates a registration code for my application,
which I can easily send in an email. If I send the file with the
registration code with a URL to download the install, can the two
registration functions be merged or is the license in SB for the install
program itself?

I'm thinking DLL, but I really don't want to ship the registration
generator. Or would it be better to just do the install, and let the user
run it and use the programs built-in registration features?

Russel,

Not sure I caugth your exact need but seems like ... :)
DMC uses SB for MP's and secwin for licensing
A client purchases and in my main app I merge the two together in the secwin activation XML and email it to the client
In dmc I again wrote the secwin and SB part to apply both lics at the same time .....

one email two licenses ....

if this is what you are after then yes it can be done quite easily

BTW : When I had this idea and wrote the code I contacted both Friedrich and Bruce to ask them if Bruce wanted to add it in SecWin as after all I would not be the only one
wanting this feature

Friedrich of course was all for it but Bruce told me he did not think it was really a feature which could be "asked for" so we dropped the idea

Bruce Super dad ...;) maybe time to revise your opinion no ?

In SecWin template add a txa to be imported in the devs app creating the activation codes
1. "link" to an SB SDK procedure (also contained in the txa) - I use a routine for each
2. create the SB Maintainance Plan in this SB procedure (routine)
3. add the generated MP in the secwin additional long string3 (secwin routine)
4. generate the XML

The dev then simply has to code his sold app to receive and secwin and SB Maintainance Plan and to write to reg what is needed
(I do it with a small SB independant exe)

.......

code at your disposition ....

axiomatic applies to report writer 32 bit also ? <vbg>

Let me know if what I wrote and exists is sufficient of if you still want to connect and see "seexiomatic" ?

Axiomatic means "something that is self-evident". RW is not applicable
here.

"If its not in writing, then its not true"
RW was not in writing so it is not true - period!

Sorry but if you cannot even accept such humour ..... only because it scratches Sv - then it is worse then I thought - and no Doc can do nothing for you ....

Thank you for my time - I think I will indeed set all aside as far as you are concerned - too many translation problems!
