View Full Version : SB7 IDE crash

Friedrich,

I don't have the exact steps as this happened very quickly and its not
reproducible, but I think I may have witnessed the area this happened.

I was compiling a script and the code signing was in progress. I got a
message saying code signing failed and the IDE crashed soon after. I'm
guessing that the time stamping did not take. Probably could not make the
connection to the time stamp server for the briefest of moments.

I instantly restarted SB7 and re-compiled and everything worked fine. Maybe
this is something you could test (disconnect from the internet) and see how
the IDE behaves?

Not a big deal since SB7 recovered nicely and if my guesses are correct,
this would be very difficult to duplicate, but thought I would mention it
just in case. ;-)

Oh - forgot to mention, *not* running Win 7 or Win 7 64, just Vista Biz <g>

Hi Russ,

Jane reported a similar issue (for both SB6 and SB7) if the password for the
code-signing certificate was incorrect. Unfortunately, we can't reproduce
it -- but I'll keep an eye on it. It seems to be caused by the function
that handles code-signing errors.

Thanks,
Friedrich

About all anyone can do considering how little information you have to go
on. On my watch list as well. Thanks!

Greetings,

Jane Fleming demonstrated the basics of SB and a lot of extras today at
the Webinar. Please see http://www.ClarionLive.com for more information.

These webinars are priceless, they are available to anyone and at no
cost. It's true they are geared towards Clarion, but that works for
most of us.

George.

George,

Yes, Congratulations to Jane for an excellent presentation, and helping the
computing community to not only understand a first class product -
SetupBuilder -

even the more so (GREAT intro class for those who aren't SB fans yet), but
making many UAC awareness points and helping many to transition to 2009 -
the Vista and Windows 7 (Windows 7 Server) world!

And, many thanks to Arnold Young and John Hickey of POSitive Software
Company (and others) for providing Clarion Live! - what an amazing
resource!

You're right - of course, very Clarion specific for a lot of it - but
Jane's and John Hamilton's VMware Workstation presentations - would be
significant for ANY developer!

Sorry to steal your thunder David. No offense, but your reviews are
always positive. Are you going to give this 6 stars out of 5.

Grins,
George.

George,

OK, I AM a very positive person, AND try to see the good in things,
possibly at times OverTipping the praise a bit! :-D

BUT

OTOH!

This list exists because I didn't shy from critiquing Clarion Third Party
vendors (WITH the emphasis on giving examples and help to improve their
sites).

AND, I didn't shy away from the recent Web Design tool discussion that had
a home page designed in "Marketing Hell".

Anyone who saw Jane's presentation (others will soon with the video
download version) will heartily agree - it IS a "6 stars out of 5"

:-D

- we are priviliged to have experts such as Jane in the community.

Personally, I am excited about the SB7 tutorial she and Friedrich
co-authored, that will be released with SB7 Gold (I believe)!
