Hello Friedrich,

for example iuse i.e. CSIDL_Appdata. I know that is fine with XP and later
Windows OS. But what about Win98? Knows Win98 about CSIDLs?

Yes - not necessarily all that XP knows about but it does know about many of
them. Win95 too but only with a certain shell extension which I think was
in IE 4.

Go down to the "Function information" and you will see what OS support it.

also gives you a list of all the CSIDL with notes about what version of the
shell supports them.
