Test for the existance of MSSQL and MSDE

How can I test for the existance of MSSQL and MSDE on the target computer?

The MSDE/SQL Server Version function appears to be the the right tool, but the docs say it "is considered obsolete and should not be used."

It completely depends on the SQL version you would like to detect. But there is no general answer to this because Microsoft completely changed the "detection rules".

If you know how to do this without SetupBuilder then we can help you to convert your logic to SetupScript.
