View Full Version : FTP upload went to wrong folder location

Hi Friedrich

I just had a problem with FTP in SB6.9.2587.

The project has been working great for several months and FTP has worked fine.
Yesterday the FTP failed for some reason at the end of the compile, probably because
the remote site had a problem.
I waited a few minutes and used the menu process Build/Distribute to FTP Server.
This time it worked OK and I got a confirmation message.

Problem is, that in my project the "FTP location:" is set to
"blahblah.com/public_html/thisfolder"
and this is where files are usually successfully uploaded to.
But when I used "Build/Distribute to FTP Server", the file was uploaded to the root
folder at "blahblah.com/"

If this is expected behaviour, then what use is that menu option?

Thanks

BTW, this will be fixed in the next SB7 maintenance build.

I have experienced this when SB6 was uploading and I used another FTP client
(FrontPage, PowerDesk) to access the site. Simple solution for me is never to
do that.

This only happens if you are using the "Build" | "Distribute to FTP Server"
function. It does not happen if you let the compiler upload the files
directly after the compilation process.

Hi Friedrich

I tested in my SB7 and noticed the same result.

I guess if it is not easily fixed, then why not just remove the option to distribute
from the menu.

OR, if using the menu option, pop up a window asking for all the FTP params. That way
we cannot blame you if it fails :-)

Already fixed in the latest internal SB7 source codes ;-)
