Friedrich will deliver the qualified answer, but I interpret that to mean
you must have a current maintenance subscription (not just owning
SetupBuilder) or pay for the Lindersoft Community Membership - Annual
Premium Membership at USD $50.

We have received a lot of certificate requests. Comodo is still working on a
minor order system problem, but they told me they will get this worked out
today.

Let me explain the code certification request process.

- Step 1:

The first step is that the customer will be required to enter their
Certificate Signing Request (Product Details). Comodo told me that they
would suggest to go with the default options. Custom options could create
problems at times.

In the process of applying for a Code Signing ID, your browser will generate
a private key. Please make a back-up copy of this private key, as you will
need this key to sign code. This key is never sent to Comodo, so if you lose
this private key, you will be unable to sign code. If this key is lost or
stolen, please contact Comodo immediately.

- Step 2:

The next step is that the customer will be required to enter their corporate
details.

- Step 3:

If you press the Agree & Continue button, Lindersoft will "authorize" the
certificate request. This initiates the customer validation process.

- Step 4:

A confirmation email with instructions for validation will be sent to the
customer and Comodo will begin validating the application.

Comodo will take a number of steps to verify your identity. For commercial
publishers, Comodo does a considerable amount of background checking.

- Step 5:

Upon successful validation of the application the pending Certificate will
be issued.

At the end of this process, Comodo will send you an e-mail containing a PIN
Personal Identification Number). Follow the instructions in this e-mail to
pick up your Digital ID. Save your Digital ID as a file (e.g.
MyCredentials.spc).

By the way, the details that will be required for validating your
certificate are as follows:

If the order has been applied for in your company's name:

Articles of Incorporation
Business License
DUNS details (e.g. your Dun & Bradstreet company number)

If the order has been applied for in your trading name (and you do not have
access to the above documents):

Trading License
Copy of utilities bill / bank statement / check containing your trading
name

If the order has been applied for in your own personal name or the order is
not for use by a commercial entity:

Copy of your drivers license or passport

will the process differ.

After we have "authorized" the certificate request (Step 3), Comodo will
contact you to handle the payment process. We do not make a profit on
certificates so the money goes directly to Comodo.

"Return customer" must follow the same product links as first time purchase
customers. When a customer logs in at this point, their existing details
will be retrieved and they will not be required to complete the corporate
details page. All details (Company Name, Address, Admin Email Address, etc)
provided during the application for the first product will be used in the
validation and issuance of the additional products. The customer will only
be required to complete the first page.

One caveat as far as Comodo's default options.
IIRC, their default option is for a 1024-bit key length
This article, at least, says "Authenticode signatures should use a 2048-bit
key." (Third paragraph under the "Signing the Application" heading)

Have you then tried to use the private key and .spc file to code sign an exe
or dll with the MS CodeSign.exe ? I think it should work. I use to use pk7
files bug spc is recognized by codesign.exe I believe.
Do you have sample command lines for CodeSign.exe for use with your
certificates or a better way for 'community members' not necessarily using
setupbuilder to sign code?
If codesign.exe is the best way to go, do you have codeSign.exe on your site
for download? I cant seem to find it anymore in favor of the .net version on
microsoft's site.
