SetupBuilder 7.0 Build 2734 (September 29, 2009)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

FEATURE : IDE: Add "#edit ini..." compiler directive.

IMPROVEMENT: Add "Select Text" option to the "Wizard: Set Control
Properties..." script function to select (highlight) all the
text in an edit control.

IMPROVEMENT: IDE: The "Releases Visualizer" shows defined Compiler Variables
in the "Release Properties" now.

IMPROVEMENT: Add "Parameters" option to the "Add Scheduled Tasks" script
function.

IMPROVEMENT: UnInstaller: When uninstalling a previous version from within
the installer by calling the uninstall application, the
creation of the new uninstall failed under certain
circumstances (the old uninstall was in self-removal mode and
still in memory). The installer tries to detect and work around
this timing issue.

FIX : IDE: Several minor issues.

FIX : [SB#909231] IDE: Under certain circumstances the compiler did
not resolve Compiler Variables for "Releases".

FIX : IDE: Under certain circumstances after a compile error and an
recompile, the compiler generated an invalid executable format.

FIX : UnInstaller: Possible "deadlock" in the uninstall if launched
from the installer with "Wait for Program" option enabled.

CHANGE : IDE: File "Save as..." saves projects with .sb7 extension.

CHANGE : IDE: The SKU feature does not display blank items for Combo or
List entries.

CHANGE : [SB#909151] IDE: File | Open... "Files of type" changed to two
choices only (*.sb7,*.sb6,*.sb5 and *.sbi).

CHANGE : IDE: Compiler directives moved to the end of the "Script
Function" list.

CHANGE : Installer: The "Handle Text File Operation..." script function
does not create a temporary file in the standard temporary
Windows folder any longer. Instead of making the changes in a
temp file in another location, the installer just makes the
changes in place to avoid altered permissions.

CHANGE : Updated online help.

CHANGE : Updated PDF manual.

Hello Friderich,

Thanks again for this update : a small request please : could the updater NOT install each time new programGroup links ?

I have moved the original ones under a seperate folder and each time it adds again.... ;)

small things make perfection even better ;)

Hmm, the only shortcut that is created is the "Rollback to Previous version"
item. What other extra items to you see after the update?

No, not "yada" <g>. If you run a web update, only "Rollback to SetupBuilder
Build X" will be added to the SetupBuilder 7 group <g> Of course, if this
group does not exist, it has to be created. Otherwise, the installer would
be unable to add the "rollback" feature shortcut.

Hope this helps.

my machine again he ? ;)

correct of course.

becomes OT a little bit but IF *SB* could read all programgroups before adding to detect changes done by stupid windows users (as I am not the only one to rearrange AFTER
the installs) and add where relevant - that would be a good (extra - as if the list needed to be widdened) sales point for buyers taking in consideration their clients.....
ie
SetupBuilder 7 is copied to Utility folder and becomes a sub folder there (which is my case) .....

Merci

Hi Jean-Pierre,

Not your machine <g>. But I have never imagined that one would move the
Shortcuts or Start Menu group to other locations. What we can do is to
check if the default SetupBuilder 7 group is there. If not, do not let the
installer add the "Rollback to previous version" Shortcut (and of course, as
a result of this lose the ability to rollback to previous versions). We can
add this with a single line in the SetupBuilder update scripts.

From the technical point of view, it would be possible to scan through the
%_CSIDL_COMMON_STARTMENU% to see if the developer moved the Shortcuts or
Start Menu group to another location. But what if he moved it to the
per-user %_CSIDL_STARTMENU% location or even the hole Start Menu group for
SetupBuilder to the Desktop (all users or current user). No way to handle
this scenario.

Your option is a good one : if the user moved it then too bad for him if he does not get the rollback link

Scanning on all common program dirs would I feel if not too much work and overweight to installer be a reasonably good idea too
(maybe before going into this a small poll to see if I am the only one to move them around...)

of course other cases are lost ones for the windows community ;)

:)

Changed in the SetupBuilder 7 update scripts now. Updates check if the
(default) SetupBuilder 7 group is there. If not, the update does not add
the "Rollback to previous X" Shortcut. So when the next SB7 maintenance
build becomes available, you'll not get a new SetupBuilder 7 Start Menu.

If I install this, does it replace my SB6 install, or install alongside?

If the latter, is there any reason I would want to keep working in SB6?

Steve

Both versions can be installed on the same machine, but I see no reason to
do so.
I still have SB6, but in the past 6 months have only used it to make an
occasional screen shot.

So, probably the recommended choice is to replace SB6?....
(i.e. SB7 is more stable than C*7* <g>)

Steve,

When you get an expert opinion like this - I'd say that is excellent
advice! :-D

Since SetupBuilder 7 does everything SetupBuilder 6 did - PLUS many new
improvements - no need to look back!

There were some "transitional" things that I and others felt could make it
better, and these were included in the latest build - but they are like
icing on the cake - just making it more user friendly!
