View Full Version : Web deployment of updates

Hi All

I'm investigating the best methodology to update data via the internet.

The initial install of the app and associated data is per CD.

From time to time a new version of the exe and some dll's is released. In
addition the app has a register of documents (graphics, pdfs, docs etc) and the
associated files. The list and the underlying documents are updated and released
a few times per year.

What are the options to do this? The users have a low level of IT skills and the
upgrade process must be completely automatic: check, download, install, delete,
update documents etc

Cheers

Chris Laurie

Thank you, Colin :)

SetupBuilder 6 provides state-of-the-art "web installation" and "web
updating" functionality.

SetupBuilder 6 is an all-in-one solution for installation, configuration,
installation protection and application updating. And of course, it is
secure. It supports both Authenticode and SetupBuilder Archive Integrity
Verification. We even provide a low cost path to Comodo code-signing
certificates.

Hi Chris.

As Colin said, SetupBuilder.

It's possibly the most stable, high-quality product I've ever used. And
Friedrich's service is unmatched. I have a number of products using SB's
"Web Update" feature, and it's solid, easy to use, and almost impossible for
end users of any level to mess it up.

Best Regards,

Gary.

Chris (and Gary),

In my personal experience, comparing all the programs that use a
SetupBuilder Install (http://www.lindersoft.com/) AND particularly the Web
Update feature - StrategyOnline's Clarion Desktop
(http://www.clariondesktop.com/) is the best setup and update demonstration
I have found to date! Great job, Gary.

Actually non-Clarion people should download Clarion Desktop JUST to see how
a First Class demonstration of Web Updating is accomplished!
