View Full Version : Little Insert Script Variable suggestion

Hi Friedrich

I'm currently updating the registry values and it would be handy if we could
have a little button to select a script variable or be able to drag and drop
a script variable into the entry field.

The current risks are we could spell one of the script variables incorrectly
and I also noticed that it allows lower case text as well, ie
%_CSIDL_COMMON_Appdata% for example.

Plus if we are using the script editor its not so bad we can copy what we
read but if we have variables that are wider than the box then we cant read
the end portion just like that fix you did for the pop up tooltips for the
debugger variables.
However if we are using the registry visualiser we cant see the script
variables we might want to use, hence the idea of a button to select from a
list just like you have in the File Properties dialog box. There you have a
little button with folder icon that when we click it we can choose Browse
for Folder... or Insert Variable...

The Insert Variable function would be ideal for use in setting the registry
values.<g>

Same goes for the Shortcut properties Working Directory entry field, an
insert variable button would be nice here as well.<g>

You mean as shown in the pic? <g>

In Jane's wonderful SetupBuilder tome, check the "IDE Hotkeys" topic (or
"Variables - picklist" in the index). Ctrl+Right-click or Ctrl+DownArrow
will open a variables selection list 'most anywhere....
