Detect Previous Version Example

Does anyone have an example of how to use the Detect Previous Version
function? Plus, I do not know what a product GUID is.

Ideally, I want to make it very clear to the user that they are installing
to a directory other than where the previous installation is installed.

Adding to my question, I'd like to be able to look at an .ini file residing
in the selected install folder. I can figure out how to do this within the
context of wizard loop. So after the user selects a destination, I want to
be able to test that .ini file to see if they are updating or doing a fresh
install.
