View Full Version : Odd Uninstall problem with "Program Folder"

SB6 (6.0.1750.0)

If a program folder (Start Menu) already exists on the system from a
previous install and a newer version is installed using the same name for
the program folder, then the line to remove the program folder is omitted
from the uninstall log. If the newer version is a clean install then the
line to remove the program folder is included in the uninstall log. All the
shortcuts are removed but the program folder remains (Empty) on the Start
Menu.

There is no problem with any of the shortcuts in the program folder. They
are all properly removed in all cases.

Is this by design or have I stumbled onto a glitch?

Thanks.

Lee,

If the program folder already exists from a previous install, the new
install does not create a new folder and so that item will not appear in the
uninstall .log. Because the installer did not create that folder, the
uninstaller will not remove it.

There is an easy solution to this in SetupBuilder 6.5. Just mark the
"Replace Existing Shortcut" option in the "Shortcut Folder Properties" and
this will always log the program folder.

Hi Friedrich,

"Replace Existing Shortcut" is checked for this folder in my project. That's
why I thought it odd.

Thanks.
