ICO, INC, FTS, PAL and SB~ files are all listed as MPG within SB7 but
they're listed correctly elsewhere which is why I'm puzzled.

I fixed the problem by adding records in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT but
shouldn't SB do the same as other programs and default to the
extension and "File" such as "ICO File" & "INC File"?

If they were MPEG files with an MPG extension, not a problem!<g>

The IDE retrieves this information directly from the registry.

Looks okay on my machines (see attached).

Friedrich,

> The IDE retrieves this information directly from the registry.

The problem was that several of these file types had no registry entry
and defaulted to MPG. Now that I added them it looks correct in SB.

I guess my request is if no registry entry exists then default to the
file extension instead of MPG. Out of curiosity how did MPG become the
default in SB on my system?

And mine, now!<g>

If no extension is registered for a file type, the list just display the
extension and an additional "File" index. See attached screenshot. As an
example, the file "SB7.2936"

..2936 is not a "registered" extension and so the list displays it as "2936
File". Or SB7.shp -- .shp is not a registered file extension and so "SHP
File" is displayed.

I think "something" made a link for .ico extensions to MPG on your machine.
The IDE retrieves all the information directly from the registry.

Friedrich,

Apparently my registry is seriously messed up. But no problem, I just
finished adding a bunch of extensions to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and now
things are listed correctly in SB.

BTW, still brainstorming your "comment" suggestion.
