View Full Version : Am I S*****d?

I may have painted myself into a serious corner.

I finally got my new Comodo files inserted the into my SB project and
apparently my password is invalid. Errorcode -1. I didn't test the SB
compile at the old location. My bad!

Since I downloaded the new files I have my computer in a new location and am
no longer using the IP address that I used during the Comodo application
process. I also have a new physical address.

Any suggestions how I can get back up and running?

Thanks!

Lynn

Location should not affect you.
I use the same signing files in Australia and USA when I am here.
I think you must have changed your password when you renewed/re-purchased the keys.

Maybe it has to do with the "save as file" thing that Jane was saying
was a good choice.

Hi Jeff

Yes, perhaps... I stuffed up my latest Cert. repurchase and had to go thru the drag of
converting to Cert and Key files. That is a real pain. I had read Jane's stuff, but
went too quick when on-line...

So what should my approach be? Re-reading "Jane's Journal" as I speak.

Write down the password you use.
Otherwise, I think you did everything correctly.

Aye, there's the rub.

Hi Jeff,

See my reply to John.

Hi John,

Yes you are right. My concern on location is if I have to go back to Comodo
and pay for a new certificate (yikes) or explain what happened I am no
longer at the location or use the same internet provider as the ones I used
for my application. They seem to be very particular about addresses.

I indeed must have changed the password or something else happened.

I saved the files as comodo2010.pvk and comodo2010.spc

Where are you hanging out these days/

Lynn,

I would start SignCode.exe (located in the SetupBuilder \Lib folder) and try
to code-sign a dummy .exe. Perhaps the SignCode gives you an error
description and (with some luck) it's not the password.

Thanks Friedrich. I'll be back with the results.

Hi Lynn

If you have lost or reset the pwd then I think you would need a new cert. :-(

As for location, this year we are spending the summer based in Denver. Having a great
time exploring the area.

;-( is right.

Enjoy your summer. It's sort of warm here in Texas these days.

Lynn,

AFTER reading this entire newsgroup thread, with the caveat - ANY one of us
- could miss an important step in the process.

I would suggest a couple things when you go through the Code Certificate
Order Process!

THIS IS a MUST READ!

Product Description - CodeSign May2009 - Clarion Live!, MFG - Jane Fleming
Internet Link - http://www.beachbunnysoftware.com/webinar/

AND, Jane plainly tells you - save your private key password!

A very good newsgroup thread to read as well.
http://www.lindersoft.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8279

Ignore screen shot in this thread - use Jane's Fleming's CHM or PDF screen
shots for reference

DO NOT rush yourself in the order process - be slow, deliberate, follow
Jane's advice, etc

Learning SetupBuilder Part I - Code-Signing - Also a Jane Fleming
production!
