View Full Version : Best Technique for Dual Install for different OS

I understand how you can have different files installed for different OS's.

I gather my exe's to installed in a single holding folder by copying their
latest versions to the folder.

In my case the exe names will be ultimately installed with the same name on
different OS's. I want to embed a manifest in the Vista version only for
cosmetic reasons.

My plan is to copy the current version of the exe to the holding folder.
Make a copy of the exe in the folder with a different name, then rename it
back to it's original name after install.

Or is there a slicker way?

Lynn,
You shouldn't need to rename your .exe
Read through the thread with the subject "Patch... not quite" from June 26.
Someone else wanted to do the same type of install.

Thanks Jane,

Found it. Very nice!

But as Steve says "Because it is a touch tricky to get one's head around".

So much to learn. ;-)
