My EXE is almost 15Mb.

When I create an update patch using SB4.3 the result is an EXE 1.2Mb and
works great.
When I create EXACTLY the same patch using SB5 (much quicker to compile) it
is a ginormous 7.5Mb!
I then changed the compression (as suggested by Friedrich) to high and the
result is still over 5Mb!

I must admit though that I have not tried to implement either SB5 update
patch.

Has anyone else tried the binary patch?

Sim

Sim,

No need to change compression to "high" when patching files.

The new SB5 patching technology **always** (ALWAYS <g>) generates smaller
patch files than SB4 did. Please check the "Display Compression Details"
checkbox in the SB5 IDE Options dialog (General Tab) and recompile the
script. The compiler output window now displays the size of the patch. Do
the same with SB4 and post the patch size figures here.

IMO, no patch is generated if the SB5 genaration process is faster than SB4.

Thanks,
Friedrich

I do not see that option in SB4 ...

Sim,

SB4 always reports the generated file size. Please compile your SB4 and SB5
projects and post the file size results.

Thanks,
Friedrich

Sim,

VERY INTERESTING! You are absolutely right. Under certain circumstances,
the SB5 patch technology generates larger patch installations than SB4 did.

We'll add an option to use the SB4 patch technology.

Thanks for your report!
