View Full Version : Decompression Error

It has been some time since this has happened but on a client install today
they get the Decompression error as occurred. It is an XP machine and they
have had previous installs of this app.

Anyone know what causes this.

Don,

Bad download? It happens sometimes. I always turn on the self validation check
as part of the install. My installs are almost 40MB in size and the validation
happens so fast, no one has seen it (unless they launch across the network <g>).

What Russ said. A bad download or perhaps their "protection software" (e.g.
virus scanner, spyware scanner, etc.).

Enable the "Installer Integrity Check" option and code-sign the setup.exe.

To verify the code signature, right-click the executable file and click on
Properties. You should now see an extra tab, Digital Signatures. Select this
tab. The signature list will show details of the signature. If you select
the signature and click Details then you can view the details of the digital
certificate. It should report "This digital signature is OK".

If the signature is OK, then it's not caused by a bad download but by an
over-protective ("buggy") protection software.

Hope this helps.
