Hi,

I needed to reinstall setup builder 4.0 for clarion.
After a successful install (No error messages) I try to open the program.

One message displays with "Clarion Enterprise Edition version 5.5/6.0 must be present on your machine in order to run this application"

On the same window a second message starts with "If you don't have Clarion 5.5/6.0 Enterprise Edition ..."

Clarion 6.0 is installed and it is licensed. I spoke with Clarion they recommended I speak with your support.

Everything was working fine until I needed to run a scandisk and a registery cleaner. Apparently I lost something that verifies my Clarion installation.

I do have a valid license version of Clarion 6.X which included setup builder.

Please Help.
Thanks In Advance.

Peter,

You have a problem with missing Clarion Registry entries on your machine. The following is from the SoftVelocity FAQ (gone after the last website update)

http://web.archive.org/web/20070211054234/http://www.softvelocity.com/faq/SetupBuilder/100-MissingRegKey.htm

The same is true for C6x.

Does this help?

By the way, it's not a good idea to use SetupBuilder 4 (nearly ten years old) because it is not compatible with any UAC-aware operating system (Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 and Server 7). And it is not possible to code-sign the install and uninstall applications (code-signing has #1 priority now). Using SB4 in today's environments will definitely result in a support nightmare!

This is a very brief description of how to make an application "UAC-aware"
