Do I need to create 2 installs for the webupdate to work?

I created an install
I enabled webupdate
I created a manifest file (filename.wup)
I uploaded the manifest to my website

when I try to run webupdate.exe I get an error message
The Webupdate client could not locate an associated application to update

i must be missing some steps

You need an installer (including webupdate)
You then of course need an updater installer with all the relative settings
to retreive from your server the infos and dowlonad if necessary any update
files ....

Eric

You also need to send the small file with the version number to your server.

I create a webupdate app
I also have a file with version number (myapp.wup)

when I run wupdate.exe I get an error message
The WebUpdate client could not locate an associated application to update.

Hi Eric,

Did you actually "Install" the primary install on your computer doing the
test? I believe the wupdate reads an entry from the registry to determine
the location of the update and the actual current version. It might be
falling down here.

I think there is a crying need for more documentation on this feature.

Check this NG as some months back when SB came out in this version I among
others made a complete report on how to do exactly this
Plus you have access to all demos on SB site - NOT included - for a question
of size - in the updates

And anyway even in the complete doc included it is quite well explained

GUID same for both updater and installer
FTP same for both
Send FTP the version file to get the wupdate see the new version
Install the app on your own computer to test as otherwise you get a message
saying no app to upgrade
ALL settings are in REGISTRY were the installer is supposed to put them
under localmachine lindersoft webupdate apppaths and apps
Your GUID should have its own apps with all FTP data in there
PLUS an entry under apppaths taking the same GUID with the path to your app

If this is not there you will never get an update on this machine as all
goes by GUID

If anyone needs a pair of SB scripts I can send them
Some comments are in french but I am sure you all can understand with some
small reflexion as it is an International language after all <BG>
No, I'll try to translate the usefull ones

The main thing is too see what should be set in SB in the installer and in
the updater
