Hi all,

Which CSIDL_... is the one that will place install files into the C:
\ProgramData folder? I can't seem to find where these are documented.

Thanks,

Tony

Tony,

All CSIDLs are documented in the "Get Special Folder Path" topic or on MSDN.

I think you are looking for the CSIDL_COMMON_APPDATA CSIDL.

XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data
Vista: C:\ProgramData

Hi Friedrich,

Yes, I see them now. Seems as they now refer to them as "Known
Folders" in Vista.

Alas, I never though I would miss DOS <g>.

Thanks,
Tony

And that's only the beginning <BG>

My primary development machine (Dell Dimension) is running XP and my
secondary development machine (AMD64) is powered by Vista Ultimate 64-bit.
I have to admit that, after more that 18 month of intensive work with Vista
and Longhorn (Windows Server 2008), I am beginning to like it.

CSIDL_COMMON_APPDATA

points to C:\ProgramData.

CSIDL_LOCAL_APPDATA

points to C:\Users\UserName\Appdata\Local

Hi Tony -
Jane has a couple of articles posted in the past couple of
days to Clarion.Mag on shared folders which talks about the
folder to be used for storing data.
In fact, take a look at ALL of her articles the past several
months on the implications of Vista.
She'll deny it, but she is a sharp lady and very generous
with knowledge. Thanks Jane!
