View Full Version : My name is not Microsoft -- SB New setup

I set up a new project using the wizard. The first screen asked me for
my company name and had Microsoft filled in. That may relate to the
way windows is set up, but when I changed it to my company name I
expected that change to carry forward.

The second screen for Destination folder contained this:
%PROGRAMFILESDIR%\Microsoft\[PRODUCTNAME]

I was hoping to see my real company name there instead.

I am assuming it was because of the default on the first screen. Can
it be changed so that if you change the first screen this one gets
changed too?

Thanks, Bob Roos

I assume, you are running a x64 Windows operating system. So in your case,
your name *is* Microsoft <g> Why?

See this:

"Microsoft" is the registered owner and company name on your machine. You
have to change the items to see your own information.

You are correct. win 7 64 bit. so I understand about the first screen
with that name. I have seen it in other places.

My question concerns what happens after I change it on the first
screen. When I go to the next screen I expected that it would be
changed there, but it still said "Microsoft" in the folder path.

could you please change it so that when someone updates the name on the
first page that the company name really gets changed to the correct
name on the 2nd page and beyond?

Thanks, Bob Roos

The "Specify your Company Name" field (first wizard dialog) defines the
Author, Publisher, and Company Name in the "Project Properties". For
example, 'Microsoft, Inc.' or 'SoftVelocity, Inc.'

"Specify the destination folder" (second wizard dialog) makes user of the
standard company name entry from the registry. For example, 'SOFTVELOCITY'

I agree, this is suboptimal on x64 machines. We'll try to add another field
to the first page to change the company name for the destination folder
item.

Friedrich
