View Full Version : Code signing certificates

I'm going to be purchasing a copy of the latest SetupBuilder but I will also
need at least two code signing certificates and my question is can I do that?
I don't understand how these certificates work. I need one for work I develop
for a client of mine for the software he provides to his clients and, of
course, I need one for my own business.

Any comments are appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi Drew,

First off, be sure to buy them through the SetupBuilder deal:

http://www.lindersoft.com/order_codesigning.htm

You can't do better on the price.

Also be sure to get the three year certificate so you don't have to go
through the hoops any more often than is needed.

Before you start, read the two threads linked on the above page.

Likewise make sure you have all your ducks in a row in order to satisfy the
Comodo people that "you are who you say you are" before you start the
process.

Then you should be good to go!

:-)

Good luck on your projects!

Charles

And since one of the certs is for his customer there are MORE ducks to
line up!<g> I have a customer that wanted this and informed them THEY
would need to buy there own cert since it would be far easier for them
to prove who they are... they did.

Drew,

Someone can advise you on whose name you need to register each certificate,

but my company offers some very good Code Sign - Order Process information
in a helpful Help (CHM) format - also includes information about
signtool.exe - how to obtain it - support files needed.

Download the CHM version of this blog.

Product Description - App Data UAC Safe, MFG - Encourager Software

Also, Learning SetupBuilder Part I - included with latest SetupBuilder when
you click on Learning SetupBuilder in SB IDE (will download if not already
downloaded) - contains an excellent tutorial section on Code-Signing -
authored by Jane Fleming.

My company's help topic includes information that is very practical as you
go through the order process (and preparation for it)

Hi all

I'm also going through this process. Got all my documentation ready and
comodo told me to email it to them once i have received the order number.

All fine and well. On the Lindersoft site i select the 3 year option and it
prompts me for a usernane and password. Where do i get that?
If i look on my under setupbuilder the maintenace pan only expires in march
2012.

your Help much appreciated

Regards

Andreas
