View Full Version : Warning: A SetupBuilder project file inconsistency problem...

Hi Friedrich,

After the last SB7 update few days ago I get this message every time I open
a project that was saved with whatever build was the last build. This has
me concerned about what is wrong in this last build or what is wrong with
the scripts from previous build that needs to be fixed. Any ideas?

Note that once I click YES to FIX the issue, it doesn't come up again. I'm
concerned what happens if I DON'T click Yes to fix and don't run the "Script
Structure Validation"

Message reads:

-----------------------------------------------------------
SetupBuilder Development Environment

Warning: A SetupBuidler project file inconsistency problem has been
detected:

c:\products\... project.sb7

Would you like to try to fix the issue now?

Note: If you click 'No', you can start the 'Script Structure Validation'
function from the 'File' menu at a later time.

[Yes] [No]
-----------------------------------------------------------

Best regards,

Gday Arnor

This started with SB7.5 around July 9th. Several threads have this covered. Best
advice is to just click [Y] and proceed. The validation process just cleans up a few
things in the scripts.

Thanks. I guess it's been a while since I used SB as I keep it updated all
the time. I'm just concerned about this since I have no further information
on what this is.

Best regards,

I think Sue keeps him tied to his office chair. Oh, and sometimes she lets him cook.

BTW, the message will not come up if you do a command line compile.

Thanks, but my concern is still there. IMO you should not be showing a
message at all, just fix it! The message indicates that there is a problem
that needs to be fixed. But the message also makes the fix _optional_ which
makes it very confusing. And then there is an option to turn this checking
off, which doesn't make a lot of sense to me;) If something needs to be
checked or fixed during the project loading, there should just be a message
with something like: "The project will be checked for possible conversion
problems" and if any problems are found and fixed then it could pop another
message stating: "X number of conversion problems have been fixed. The
project has not changed in any way."

In essence I feel that SB is asking me to determine if it needs to fix
something that it doesn't explain at all what is. Kind of like:

"Houston, we have a problem. Do you want us to fix it, Yes or No"
"Uhhh... Say again, WHAT problem?"
