Determining whether your command was successful is probably more
likely if you use the SB (or your own code).

Capesoft SelfService can be used to start/stop other services too.

We use that inside a utility.dll, which is called through SB.

The installer makes use of the native Windows Service APIs to handle
services and I don't know of any cons.
