View Full Version : does SB 7 for clarion support code signing?

I'm using the basic version of setup builder for clarion, and I can see
that I appear to be able to access prompts that suggest that I can add
digital certificate details to the installer script, but I can only seem to
make it sign the uninstaller.

Am I missing something, or do I need to upgrade to the full version to make
this possible?

Regards,

Neil

The "SetupBuilder for Clarion" Edition lets you code-sign the installer and
the uninstall application. But the "#code-sign application..." compiler
directive to code-sign external application files is only available in the
full SetupBuilder Editions.

By the way, the full SetupBuilder allows you to buy original Comodo
code-signing certificates at a discounted price. For example, a 3yr
certificate for $200 instead of $500. So the SetupBuilder license pays for
itself <g>

Hi Friedrich,

Thanks for the clarification, that seems quite reasonable, so long as I can
sign my installer, I'll be more than happy.

I've put some extra info on the post that you replied to in the third_party
group.

Regards,

Neil.

Unfortunately, you are so absolutely right. The "Clarion Edition" does NOT
code-sign the installer :-(

The code-signing process in "Professional Edition" and "Developer Edition"
works okay, but the "Clarion Edition" compiler code-signs the uninstall
application only.

We'll change this in the next maintenance build. Thank you for bringing
this to my attention!

That's OK Friedrich,

When something like this happens, I always tend make the assumption that I'm
doing something silly, and occasionally it turns out that I'm not :-)

I can still manually sign my installer .exe

Will I be eligible for the maintenance release? I only ask, because I'm not
quite sure how the "deal" with SV works. I ended up moving from SB4 straight
to SB7 because I didn't know that there were any updates available with my
CSP subscription.

Regards,

Neil.
