View Full Version : antivirus issues

I provide two installations with my program. The primary installation is a
web deployment with the latest version of setupbuilder -- 7.5. The
secondary installation is a full .exe download of the program. The issues
that I am having are with the primary installation. It appears that all of
my customers that use Sonicwall and Norton are experiencing issues with this
download as it is picking up a trojan virus. I think there are some other
antivirus programs that are experiencing the same issues but I haven't
written them down. With certain versions of these antivirus programs they
can get around it but some of them are so restrictive that they won't allow
the download. Any ideas?

Hi Ed,

> Any ideas?

Yes, report this bug to the anti-virus vendors and provide a link to your
setup.exe so they can fix it in their next virus definition update. If you
don't do this then chances are that more anti-virus / anti-spyware systems
will "flag" you in the future.

BTW, it's always a good idea to check your setups and application files here
on a regular basis:

Hi Ed,

And another very important thing. Make sure that your web install is
code-signed. Quite a few anti-virus and anti-spyware products do not allow
web-access from unsigned applications.
