No, it was not. But SB76 introduced support for Windows 8, yes.

I can't put my finger on it, but it seems to be easier to use. Maybe I'm
just accustomed to it now but it just seems to flow better. I know there's
no major changes to the UI but it "feels" different to me.

At least (so far) that annoying "unable to start on this thread" error hasn't happened on startup since I upgraded.

Yes, it's better now. But the threading issue is still not 100% fixed
(especially on Win8). We have to wait for the public Win8 beta release to
continue improvements because I expect modifications in the Windows kernel.
