Friedrich,

Out of curiosity, what does SB7 look for in detecting installed versions of Clarion?

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom,

It uses the "standard" detection method for the Clarion environments and it depends on the Clarion version. For Clarion prior Version 6 it uses the WIN.INI detection method. For Clarion 6.x it uses the WIN.INI, the Windows registry and file version stamp, for Clarion 7.x and later it uses the Windows registry and file version stamp.

BTW, it's a somewhat complicated mechanism to detect all the different versions (especially for 6.x). If you are using Clarion 6 on an UAC-aware operating system, then you have to apply the "Vista patch" to make your Clarion environment "detectable".

Thanks -- been upgrading a bunch of C6 stuff to C8 and hassling with non-C7 or C8 aware installers that put files in 'sub-optimal' locations.:) I just wanted to see how I could short-circuit them a bit.
