please have a look at the attached small demo project. Why doesn't it
show line for line the contents of the included logfie.txt?

Because this is an Unicode text document (see attached screenshot), not an
ASCII text file.

BTW, a function to convert a file from Unicode to ANSI is already on the
drawing board.
