SB 7.7 - I have a .zip file that is over 3GB in size. Will
SetupBuilder's Unzip statment unzip this file?

The SetupBuilder unzip functionality makes use of the LSZip component. The
LSZip file size limit is 2GB so you can't process files larger than 2GB.

I assume the same file size limit is true when zipping files, right?

Yes! 2GB is the limit.

I wonder if that Winzip Self-extractor tool would do the job. E.G.,
just run the executable.

A VMWare blog reports the following:

> Windows XP has an EXE size limitation of 512MB
> Windows Vista+ has an EXE size limitation of 2GB

IMO, the XP limitation is not correct. In practice, it should be around
1.3GB.

WinZip says:

> What are the requirements for WinZip Self-Extractor 4.0?
>
> 3.Windows is unable to utilize executables greater than 2gb in size

So I wonder what the best option would be.

Good question. The only option I see is to use a 3rd-party unzip tool
(packaged as a "Support File") from the installer to unzip the 3GB+ archive
on machines that can handle it. If the file system supports archives >2GB
then call the unzip tool (e.g. freeware 7Zip command line) from the
installer using the "Run Command Line..." script function. If the machine
does not support archives >2GB then display a warning.

There is a size limit for Windows executable files. In theory, it can be
~2GB. In practice, you can expect around 1.2GB - 1.3GB. The limit depends
on different machine specific factors.

So a 3GB .zip archive converted to a self-extracting .exe should not load or
execute.

Isn't there a feature to split zip files so you could have a few 2GB zip
files? Or am I thinking of something else?

No, the industry-standard PKWARE 2.04g standard can't do this. Later
formats handle it, but they are not industry-standard compatible (e.g. can't
be used in Windows Explorer, etc.).

Ermmm, Jeff, big is relative. It looks like it is about 3 MEGAbytes, not GIGAbytes as
others have been mentioning.

And here is one about 56 Mb., but not 56Gb. I think this is one of the biggest I have.
