View Full Version : No Comodo blues here

My Comodo certificate was up for expiration.

Last night I completed the application and received my order confirmation
immediately after. An hour later I received a mail saying that they wanted
to make a veryfication call and asking about office hours. No request for
further documentation.

This morning I received the call (I never mailed them back) and two minutes
later I got the mail with the certificate pickup instructions!

Conclusion:
1) it _is_ possible to have a painless experience
2) I was probably just lucky
3) I don't give much for the "extensive background check" being made
4) I wouldn't mind being able to charge $200 for a phone call and a push of
a button

I had the exact same fast easy experience last time

I find it "normal" that they rely :
- for companies on "official" phone numbers extracted from "official"
records - up to _us_ to maintain them when we change numbers (income
tax dun & brad for some etc )...

- for individuals on "official telephone directories available on
Internet"

For official records you have to provide contact information (at least here
in WA) I'm not sure if they look at that - we had the address for our LLC
set to Sue's office but I used our home address for the application. That
certainly wasn't picked up. The only thing that I know they check is the
phone number and that you can verify it's registered to the entity applying.
I just have a cell phone that is registered on the company - that works.

I'd be very surprised if there is any. They might check the url to see if
it's there. But they do get hung up on the phone thing - pun intended;)

Peter,

My experience a few months ago was pretty painless too. I sent them the
link in the State of FL site which shows my company is a valid FL
corporation and that was it. I guess it gets easier if you can show them
verifiable info.

Great news

My problems stemmed only from the fact that Dunn&Brads had old information and that
Comodo relied more on that than the current Whois info from our website and name
registrant.

That was all finally resolved but it was a pain. I got my new certificate just short
of a week from initial order.
