View Full Version : Occasional Problem with Single File Image

Hi,

This is a problem that starting to cause me some concern.

I'm uploading a one piece setup exe to a FTP site that around 300-400
workstations will download over a period of time, (built using the very
latest Setupbuilder) several of these sites will report that the install
routine is asking for disk 1, when it shouldn't as it's a one piece EXE at
29MB. As there is no disk 1 it fails, I then have to put the routine on
another FTP site or send them it on CD, which then tends to work.

Has anyone any ideas about this kind of error/problem?

Best Regards,

Kevin.

Hi Kevin,

Yes, I know what this is. It is a transmission error and not caused by
SetupBuilder.

What happens is one of the following:

1. You have an *upload* transmission error. File on server <> original
file.

-or-

2. It's a *download* transmission error. File on server = original file but
file downloaded is <> file on server.

If you are sure it isn't 1) then it is definitely 2).

What you can do is to enable the "Enable Installer Integrity Check" (General
Information Visualizer) so your installer does a self-check *before* it
runs.

Does this help?

Hi Friedrich,

Thanks for this tip, I now have a more meaningful error coming up on a
corrupt download.

Best Regards,

Kevin.
