What would cause an install to stop on the validation dialog on one pc?
The user waited a long time for it to complete. It is working fine on
others.

Perhaps an external program (e.g. a buggy virus/spyware scanner) blocks
CRC32 archive integrity processing. I have never ever seen or received a
similar report in all the years. So perhaps it's "his machine". There is
absolutely nothing that you can do here -- assuming that he has received a
valid setup.exe which does not have a corrupt PE loader; let him check the
code-signature to be on the safe side.
