View Full Version : Folder not showing on desktop

I have created a install which creates a folder on the desktop. The folder
has a number of icons. After installing, the folder does not show on the
desktop. It will only show after forcing a refresh of the desktop. Is
there some setting I am missing to get this folder to display as soon as it
is installed.

Thanks
Gary

Gary,

This is not a SetupBuilder issue, but a Windows problem. It's caused by a
Windows Shortcut cache and refreshing problem.

You can use the "Refresh Desktop.sbi" include script to work around this.

Does this help?

The .sbi is attached to message #13 in the following thread:

I have attached it again to this message now.

Friedrich,

My bad - I read the thread, BUT didn't continue on to Page 2 of 2 to find
the attachment - thanks for posting it here.

But your message made sense :) I have added a new built-in function now to
refresh the Desktop without having to use a DLL call.

Friedrich,

Thanks, we WILL ALL appreciate that!

It's one thing for someone to say - I remember Friedrich attaching a
special spi to one of the forum messages to cover a certain function

AND now finding it in our gift stocking hanging from the stone fireplace
when we unwrap a future SB update! :-D

Thanks!

David
