Almost there extracting spc and pvk from my pfx.

Following the instructions Fiedrich referred me to I have succesfully
extracted the pem file:

openssl.exe pkcs12 -in
c:\copkcs12 -inmodo\comodo2013.pfx -nocerts -nodes -out
c:\comodo\data\mykey2013.pem

I have downloaded the pvk.exe but using the command below the command does
not execute.

pvk.exe -in c:\comodo\data\mykey2013.pem -topvk -strong -out
c:\comodo\data\mykey2013.pvk

What am I missing? Is thee another method?

Lynn,

I missed most of the earlier thread but I was just wondering why you
don't use signtool.exe and your pfx as is?

Why what?!<g>

I was using the spc/pvk/signcode route until the last certificate when
I switched to using the single pfx and signtool.

My MS SDK download fails.

I think that's the only wat to get signtool right?

Maybe a subset of the SDK would work if I only knew which parts to D/L

Lynn

Indeed.
The problem with signcode (as I recall dimly from years back) is that it
pops up a Window. SetupBuilder tries to fill in the window and click OK.
Sometimes it works. Sometimes the signcode window hasn't gained focus.

You eliminate all that with signtool.
Let alone the other contortions you're going through to turn a perfectly
good pfx into two files.

But I'm glad to see that at least some people see value in doing unnecessary
work and complicating their lives accordingly <g>

Lynn,

Encourager Software Developer Tips
http://www.encouragersoftware.com/software-developers.html

If you haven't already - download the Developer Tips and install.

This help topic - Windows 7 signtool.exe

Click on the Quick Detail image - that will load download page.

Download and install - winsdk_web.exe

Choose these Installation options

You only download about 200 MB using this method.

Hi David,

Thanks so much for your assistance.

When I try to download I get the attached screen and nothing happens for
about 20 minutes except the wait cursor twirls.

Win 7 Pro 64.

It doesn't seem to be doing anything in the cancel operation. Just sits
there.

Ideas?

Thanks again.

Retried and get the same error as yesterday. See attachment.

It wants me to refer to Samples\Setup\HTML\ConfigDetails.htm wherever that
is.

How can I get to MS Support to handle this?

Thanks.

"Had a similar problem which turned out to be that the SDK 7.1 does NOT
install if you have a newer vcredist_x86.exe than version 10.0.30319 of
Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable... I had 10.0.30419 installed... removed
it through control panel "remove programs" and then the SDK 7.1 installed."

Holy Mackerel! I have 15 installs of C** (See Inage) The world is upside
down!! <G>

Should I uninstall all of them and re-try the SDK????

Thanks Friedrich. You're the man!

Sure!

Where did they come from? My guess C8 and C9 installs when I was prompted
and maybe detritus from the aborted SDK downloads.

Hell I don't use C++.

Any legally non-binding insight from anyone would be appreciated.

I'll probably wait until cocktail time to start the deletes.
