All,

The Clarion 9 Build 10376 (Gold) installer makes use of new SetupBuilder 8
Core PreRequisites (and .NET Framework 2.0 online activation technology on
Win8.x) to handle the required C9 redistributable setups.

#1.) VC++2005 to fix the unhandled exception on C9 IDE startup (both 32-bit
and 64-bit Windows). All C9 versions prior to 9.0.10359.

#2.) VC++2008 SP1 detection problem (Windows 64-bit). All C9 versions prior
to 9.0.10359.

#3.) .NET Framework 2.0 activation on Windows 8 RTM and Windows 8.1 RTM
(both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows). All C9 versions prior to 9.0.10376
(Gold).

If there is any Core PreRequisite related issue, please post a quick note.

Friedrich,

I have set up a XP32 SP3 machine to hold Clarion 9, at least for testing.

Man, what a pain to install all that crap up to SP 3.

I could have forgone to install .NET on this machine, because your Installer
would have managed that for me?

Why didn't you tell earlier.....? <sigh>

<hehehe>

Anyway, now I have a brandnew XP machine at my hand, time to spoil it with Clarion 9!

Wolfgang...
You do mean "spoil" in its good sense don't you?

Hi Wolfgang,

Yes, the C9 installer can detect a missing .NET Framework 2.0 on XP and will
offer a download from the SoftVelocity site to install it. The same is true
for Vista. On Windows 7, .NET Framework 2.0 is available and enabled by
default. But on Windows 8.0, it's not available and beginning with Windows
8.1, all original .NET Framework 2.0 redistributables begin to fail <g>.

The current C9 (Gold) installer should handle all this automatically.

Hi Friedrich

Thanks for the info, particularly the 8.1 observation :(

Cheers

Seemed to have gone smooth here. Was getting some odd VC++ runtime
errors in a different session with the IP driver, but re-boot fixed that.
