View Full Version : Copying a file from CD during install

I have a file that I create just before I create a CD and it is burned to
the CD... along with the install program and other files.

During installation, I copy the file (a data file) from the CD to the
install folder... this works.

However, I found out yesterday that the file became read only after the copy
in the destination folder. Now I know this happens during a normal file copy
from a CD.. but when I was using Wise this problem never showed up. It would
be different if the original file was read only and I was doing it on
purpose, but it's because it gets copied to a CD and copied from a CD that
it becomes read only.

How can I fix this?

Thank you.

Update... I fixed it by changing the attributes right after the copy command
using the file attribute command. Personally I don't think I should have to
do this... I think it should be built into the copy command... anytime you
copy, set the attribute to normal... then if a person wants it read only
(which I wouldn't think is the norm), then they can use the attribute
command in setupbuilder...

Just my 2 cents.

IMO, it works correctly now, based on what you said.
