View Full Version : C9.1 overwrites C9 uninstall entry

Is this by design?

Since they can co-exist wouldn't it make more sense to leave the
existing C9 uninstall entry as is?

Lee,

Read Friedrich's post(s) in the 3rd-party-developers only thread:

---------

> This means :
> I uninstall then reinstall 9.1 to level things for c9.1
> but what about my c9 - how to "get it back" in working order ?
> re install c9 over existing ?

The uninstall process for the 'initial' C9.1 will restore your C9.0
reg-information (no need to reinstall C9.0). It will restore your "Clarion
9.0" entry in the "Uninstall or change a program" control panel and C9.0
detection capability for 3rd-party templates will be back. After that you
can install the new C9.1.

Jane,

If it made any sense I would!<g>

Exactly how do we make sure everyone running both versions do this hat
trick? Which, at least on my machine, doesn't work. If I uninstall 9.1
yes it does restore the 9.0 entry but it uninstalls 9.1 and if I
reinstall 9.1 my old 9.0 is gone... again.

Did I not drink the right kool-aid?!<g>

Checking, or unchecking, the "Store IDE configuration files under the
install folder?" option makes no difference. /ConfigDir is always
appended as in the attached screen capture.

Manually removing it does use the existing configuration files in my
%AppData%\SoftVelocity\Clarion\7.0 folder so my layouts remain in use
- which is what I wanted!<g>

I'm amongst the unwashed and don't have 9.1, Lee.

But apparently the installer you have is perfluxed. Succor imminently to be
at hand....

Another Friedrich missive:

---------------

Look at the attached screenshots. At the moment, you have installed C9.0
and C9.1 (pre-release).

Because the "initial" C9.1 pre-release and the C9.0 environments can't 100%
coexist on the same machine, you have overwritten the C9.0 registration with
your C9.1 install. That's why the "Clarion 9 Manager" reports "FAILED!" for
both now. There is only one uninstall item in your Windows "Uninstall or
change a program" control panel.

But no problem. SoftVelocity will make a new C9.1 install image available
soon. Then you have to uninstall (IMPORTANT) your initial Clarion 9.1
pre-release and SetupBuilder's magic will bring back your C9.0 items ;-)
After that, you can install the new C9.1 and you are back :-)

I'll wash up again once it arrives.<g> Thanks, missed those messages.

I wonder if the new install will fix the /ConfigDir problem?!?!

If I had any kool-aid I'd try some about now!!!!

Hi Lee,

Bob Z was on the OpenClarion webinar on Wednesday, and much of this was
covered then. The short highlights;

a) for those 3rd parties who don't have C9.1 yet, contact SV and they can
get it to you. and
b) there are a few bugs in the current beta install, including the
/ConfigDir and Uninstall question.
These will be dealt with in an update to the beta early this week.

Bob and Diego have both been quite proactive on the OpenClarion webinar, so
I do recommend it for anyone interested
in Clarion 9.1. Registration is free at www.clarionlive.com.

cheers
Bruce
