Thanks so much for all your kind words, thoughts, and prayers over these
past few days. I feel so blessed to have this community of friends here to
help me when times get difficult.

As much as I had prepared myself for this moment over the previous months,
you can never really prepare. To wake up knowing that someone who has always
been there, isn't any more, is about as devastating as life gets. When
mother dies, one is, for the first time, really alone in the world. I want
to talk to my Mom, tell her what happened, but she is gone. She left this
world for a better place and all of her pains ended. You were there for my
very first breath, and I was there for your last...

Friedrich,

My condolences my friend.
BTW, your mother passed, so is not feeling any more pain.
She is not in a better place, she is within you, your DNA. You are her
legacy and that feels good...
Sometimes, your thoughts and deeds will be her thoughts and deeds.

As I mentioned in the email, just know that you and yours are in my
prayers. With this community you are never alone and I can attest to
that from the outpouring when my Mom died.

> to talk to my Mom, tell her what happened, but she is gone

You can still talk to her, you'll just need to "hear" her reply from
within. When I do something questionable I can see, plain as day, one
of my Mom's eyebrows being raised and "that" look I saw so many times
in my life.<g>

She'll always be in your heart and mind.

Take care of yourself, my friend.

Lee

Your always here for us Friedrich.

We were glad to be there for you.

Time heals old friend. It doesn't make it ever go away completely, but it
heals.

I'm glad you were able to be there with your Mom at the end (as I said in
my E-mail, I was with my own back when she passed). You both got comfort
from that.

You are your mother's gift to your family, your friends and to all of us
who come in contact with you and your work.

For that we are all grateful to her.

Take care,

Charles

Hi Friedrich,

You might take some comfort in this poem by Mary Frye.

I read it at my mother's funeral and keep a framed copy in my office.

It is a reminder that those we truly love are never really gone from us.

Charles

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!

Mary Frye (1932)

Friedrich,
My sincere condolences! I've been thru it and I know what you're going
thru. That feeling of being left alone when the only person who've known
you _always_ is gone. You loose a part of your life.

My thoughts are with you and the family.

My Mom's funeral was yesterday, and it was a tough day to get through. I
would like to sincerely thank all friends who have been so kind to send
messages and caring thoughts to myself and my family during the last weeks
which have been extremely difficult. I am now back in the office doing
software development work and will hopefully speak to you all soon.

Thank you all so much!
Friedrich
