View Full Version : Good result accessing 'locked' Registry entries via SB, using ACL

Thanks to Setup Builder, I was able to fix a problem (not of my making)
whereby a recent Windows MSE update had caused another party's Eftpos
software to run ridiculously slowly... due to MSE obsessing about a (text)
logging file, hogging CPU etc.

Their suggestion was to exclude this file from MSE.. ok...
except that a) the registry keys for MSE are 'locked' and not generally
accessible, and b) it had to be done for 200 stores.

It looked like it was going to have to be done manually, using the standard
MSE 'exclusions' interface.... but SetupBuilder ACL access to the rescue!
See attached - Grant access before, insert required Keys into Registry,
Revoke access after.

Done - distribute as upgrade.

Never used this feature or anything like it before... one of those great
resources tucked away - good job
