View Full Version : One script for regular and web update

Hi Friedrich,

Is it possible to use ONE SB script for both the normal full install and
a webinstall that will always be a full install also? I'm finding they
are pretty much identical except for the "Enable Web installation"
which is OFF in my main install, but ON in my web install. Can I
control this somehow or must I have two setup scripts?

Best regards,

I asked about this a while ago, but you need two scripts. I think for
two reasons:

1) The install GUID stored in the registry
2) The updater needs the know that GUID so it knows where to go to check
for new versions, login (if needed) and download.

Would nice to run one installer that does an update check if not the
initial install. Maybe this is a feature for version 9. :-)

Thanks for the info! I realized that the easiest way was just to make
changes in my main script, then save as to the web script and run them
one after the other in the BA script.

That works? <g>

I'm still using the main installer, then wizard the web update (it gets
the GUID that way) and then pretty much copy/paste the files I need to
update.

I was told you need two scripts and for once, I did what I was told <g>.

FWIW - I seldom re-compile the installer, but I often re-compile the
updater. Even if the main installer is a year old, one update session
is all it takes to get current. I recompile the main installer if there
is a new major Clarion release. Have to, or the old RPM DLLs start
failing <bg>

Understood! I'm getting a new build of BA out and it's been quite a
while both since a new major version came out and a new web update, so
I'm getting things updated.

Best regards,
