View Full Version : Comode - Cert

The first time I applied back in 2011, it was pretty smooth.

This time I have to submit notarized paper work and bullshit.

Think am going to have to figure a way out of this mess, may be no cert at
all.
For you future reference, See attachment for all the BS, the worst is I have
to make my notary fax stuff
to Comode.

BTW, to see what dumb asses they are at Comode, see insturctions, they want
pages 3 and 4
of their document faxed to them... THERE ARE ONLY 3 PAGES TO THE DOC !!!!

Maybe you could get a regular SSL instead of EV.

If you buy something that says "An EV SSL certificate offers the
highest available levels of trust and authentication to your website",
then common sense would dictate you have to do extra stuff.

I thought that is what I asked for, I ordered directly from SB website.
Thanks for noting that

err Dan do you really think here is the place for this rude language ?

ask for a personal cert like I do and no more hassles - I did have to
ask my notary for a cert and he complied with pleasure - no cost (here)

ask your lawyer if you do not have a notary

Dan,

what have you tried to order?

A regular Code-Signing Certificate for your EXEs?

Last time I did, there was not such a hurdle.

That form stated something like "Comodo’s Extended Validation Certificate
Requirements". Either they have changed their process completely or you ordered
something different, something special.

I liked the part:
"A certified copy of a court order, such as a divorce certificate, annulment
papers, or adoption papers"

Seriously, I don't want to marry, just to get a certificate from Comodo.....

They did no change anything. All WebTrusts have to follow the same "rules".
VeriSign, Comodo, Thawte, etc.

BTW, wonderful step-by-step instructions (Q3 2014 Updates) on how to request
a code-signing certificate:

so you would face to face tell The Barone de Rotschild :
What is this bullshit you are asking me !
What a dumb ass you can be sometimes !

I can promise you she would not be bothered but that you never ever be
allowed again to express yourself !

Different worlds it seems and I _do_ prefer mine :)

I'm glad Comodo isn't called Boggo, Latrino, Toiletto, Thundermuggo,
Lavatorio, Lavio, LooOh, Throneo, or Washroomio.

Otherwise they'd be susceptible to name calling.

Jeff

Seems to be because I requested a personal Certificate.

Hi Friedrich,

I think most of the frustration comes from dealing with Comodo
personnel. You never get the same person twice and they are all over
the place. One will tell you this the next one will tell you something
slightly different and then the third one says it's all wrong and then
the fourth one tells you it's all done. Last time I just let them work
their knots out and waited patiently and pretty much ignored the emails
and two days later I got the certificate<bg>

I've never tried to apply for a personal certificate like Dan, but I
have gone through the US Immigration for a Green Card, so I have limited
sympathy<vbg>

Best regards,

I only applied for a personal Cert and indeed they did ask a notary
signature which is well understandable as _no_ other "paper" can
officialize an address or a name (here at least)

a five minutes visit and all was signed and sent to them - I received
my new code signing cert in hours after that.

As Fredrich says - _all_ companies apply the same validation rules and
these rules are here to _protect_ US from those with rude thoughts (NOT
language Dan <g> so you are safe ) about our security !

Dan,

It only took me 2 months and 28 days to get the certificate. See my
posting in this newsgroup for 15 Jul 2014.

You have just begun the trip. Wait until that want you to notarize the
notary.

The fun has just begun...

Bob
