I'm hoping for a backup utility similar to BackItUp. That program is
freeware now but the version I downloaded was infested with malware..

I believe it used LSZip.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Really malware or just a false-positive (bug in the antivirus system)?

Hi Lynn,

This is what I use:

Acronis True Image for disk imaging. You can also use it for file
backup, but I haven't used it for that.

SyncBackPro for file backups. It's fast and can backup pretty much
anything, including email from email servers.

SecondCopy for file backups. I use this where I want lightweight
backups that are performed often. It's not intrusive at all and doesn't
take up a lot of CPU cycles.

CrashPlan (Code42) for off site backups. I let it run during the night
so I have no idea how heavy it is;) I have about 4 million files there
a total of about 1.5TB. I have some plan with unlimited data size and
up to 10 computers.

Build Automator for some file backups. I use BA for some automatic
product file backups during the build process.

Best regards,

There's an LSZip-based back up utility (directory-oriented) called "Fast &
Dirty Backup program" in my download center.

Hi Friedrich.

How can I be sure? <G>

I might have picked up something from the Freeware downloads site.

Any suggestions for a safe freeware site? Does anyone have a safe copy to
share if that's not illegal?

Thanks for the idea.

Lynn
