All,

I am very sorry to have to share sad news with you today. Our friend David
Troxell of Encourager Software died last November. His son contacted me
yesterday to tell me the awful "news". David died just four months after
his mother's passing.

R.I.P. David. I can't believe you are gone. I feel honoured and privileged
to have known you for the past 20 years.

R.I.P.

His last post that I can see on the NGs was very typical of him.

What a genuinely nice and encouraging guy.

Friedrich, Congratulations on this milestone achievement!

As I checked some of my earliest emails to you, May 1997 and then over
several months - it was to list several of your products "LSP
SFX-Builder"
and "LSPack for CW" in the Clarion Profile Exchange (later renamed to
Clarion Third Party Profile Exchange).

I felt so privileged to do some early testing (along with others who
volunteered) on "LSP SFX-Builder"!

Now, through many years, many achievements - some where your company
defined "State of the Art Setup Tool Features" to one of the most
successful Setup Tools companies in the world - our collective hat is
off
to a WORLD class company!

Again, Congratulations to you, Lindersoft SetupBuilder Team, your
wife,
Andrea and supporting companies who helped you achieve this milestone!

Sincerely, David Troxell, Encourager Software

Sad news indeed. A lot of folks were wondering where he was... thanks
for the post.

If you have the opportunity please pass my condolences to his family.

Of course, we have :-(

Please see "Subject: Anyone know where/how David Troxell is?" in
comp.lang.clarion started by Jeff Slarve on 11/27/2014. We tried everything
possible to get in touch with David and his family. Yesterday, his son
answered one of my messages sent in November 2014.

I am really sorry to hear this news (but it is good to know what happened
since David had just dropped off the grid and none of us could contact
him).

It is hard to believe that he is gone. He was a good friend and will be
missed by all who knew him.

This past year seems to really be taking it's toll on our fellow
programmers...

We definitely noticed. We (those of us who were looking) were unable
to obtain any info until Friedrich got a response.

Unlike David's mother Alma, who passed away several months prior,
there were no obituaries to be found online for David. I used all of
the google-fu that I had.

Several Clarion folks were really trying hard.

So from August (his last post) to November, David must have been in a
bad way.

Wish I would have known.

I was hoping that he was on a missionary trip or something.

Hi Arnor,

<< True but then again we are all getting older than the dinosaurs<g> Not a

There are younger folk using Clarion.
But alas the existing "community" in not necessarily particularly attractive
to them...
Which is not unusual for any community online or in person.

Hi Friedrich,

So sad. David was a really nice and generous person. I remember he helped
me considerably 13 years or so ago with cpTracker Pro testing and he ranked
my website pretty high (now it's an antique LOL).

Seems like too many Clarion developers are passing away lately.

I almost bit the dust 2.5 weeks ago in a motorcycle accident with my
youngest 13 year old son. Concussion, 6 stitches, road rash all over. My
son jumped off the bike and rolled in the grass and escaped with minimal
road rash.

I was knocked out and woke up briefly in the ambulance and in the E.R.
Having road rash hosed out hurts like hell!

Healing fast though and back programming for a couple of days now.

1st near death experience. We just missed the trees and just before a
bridge and steel railing.

Life is too short. Don't take it for granted people! And stop fighting
being mean/disrespectful to each-other in the Chat group. Find something
more productive to do...

Just took a look. It's still there, and I am happy to inform you that
it has evolved into a very friendly atmosphere.

In the last week alone, everyone pooled their heads together and
solved a lot of world problems. Ron and Russ were holding hands and
sharing an American beer while Paresi flipped handfuls of glitter over
their heads in the gentle breeze. Everyone else was high fiving each
other, offering positive things to say about each other, and it was so
marvelous.

So great.
