Had a weird call this morning. Former client called to say that no
reports prints. Printing from other apps OK. Was fine yesterday. That
tells me something was updated (not my app - have not issued an update
to that program in about 3 years, it just runs). Turns out it was the
AV program they have, returns a false positive after last night's
signature update. So the support guy is adding exceptions.

Seems Friedrich is not the only one that gets these headaches.

All we do lately is fight anti-virus software. Norton, McAffee, AVG are
the worst.. some warn you, others just delete the 'offending' dll or exe
without warning.

I think our biggest problem is we install another program we bought that
does remote control, and it is not listed as a virus, but the anti-virus
programs don't like it because some individuals used this program to
scam people... and our program runs it from a menu, and installs our
version of it.. next version I'll be taking it out and I'll be forcing
our clients to download it the first time.

And because our program can download data off the net, I think some of
these anti-viruses must see that and kill it.

At any rate.. I get the same fun problems too. Still, our software
installs ok on most computers. Thank fully our sales guy calls everyone
up that leaves a phone number (most do).

AV programs are our worst enemies <g>

Did a bit of Consulting for an AV vendor a few weeks ago. Some AV vendors
listen and learn, but others... <g>
