Comodo WARNING - don't ever get a free trial

Hi all,
Some months back I requested a free trial SSL certificate from Comodo,
thinking that would work fine for my tests and it did.

Now I'm ready for production and want to buy a "real" 2-year cert
through Lindersoft to get my discount. The cost will be $94.05.

Here's the catch: the minute I paste the CSR into the entry box I'm
being told that "An account already exists for "myDomain" please login.
So I log in and the amount immediately changes to $245.90!!!


It's like Comodo has hijacked the right to issuing a cert for my domain
and I will not (ever?) be able to take advantage of Friedrich's well
negotiated rebate.

Humbug!

PS. If anyone has a good advice on how to get out of this catch I'm all
ears!

Creating a new account does not work? I can't test it because I do not have
a SSL certificate.

Hi Friedrich,

I'm trying to use the account that I'm using for my code signing cert
but no go. When requesting the SSL cert they keep saying an account
already exists for my domain and when I log in to that account the price
goes up.

I don't see where or how to create a brand new account.

What I did last month (and what all the other developers are doing since 4+
years) is, I did not login with my previous account but created a new one on
page (step) 2.

And you paid $200 and not $500 <g>.

When I used my old login last month, it displayed $500.85. I had to create
a new login and it switched to $200.

Awake for 45 hours and then 5 hours sleep just doesn't work. It did

Problem is there seem to be different processes for requesting code
signing and server ssl certs. The latter doesn't offer a way to create a
new account since the domain is "tied to" the old account.

Unless there's something I don't see or understand (which is very likely
<g>).

Isn't always?!<g>

I got confused during this thread. Seems it went from SSL to code
signing back to SSL and who knows what else. Combined with, what I
recall, as your recent code signing order I wasn't sure who I was nor
what the topic was about... other than ME!<g>
